Eden Valley Chardonnay
Viticulture
Despite being called Eden Valley, this famous South Australian region is actually a set of hills sitting above the more accurately named Barossa Valley. Eden Valley enjoys a cooler climate and later ripening than the Barossa Valley. With its skeletal soils and cool nights, Eden Valley develops low yielding crops with gorgeous aromatics, fine structure and excellent natural acidity.
Vinification
Partial barrel fermentation combined with secondary malolactic fermentation produced a wine with creamy texture and fresh citrus flavor. These were further developed by aging in seasoned French oak.
Tasting Notes
The Greg Norman Estates 2008 Chardonnay is pale straw in color with a vibrant green hue. The nose is dominated by flinty mineral, spicy oak, white peach, toasted almonds, with hints of mandarin peel and jasmine. Creamy and round with a mineral, lemony acid profile, the wine is balanced delicately with spicy vanillin oak and fleshy stone-fruits.
